The work I love...

Play Ashram

Play Ashram can aptly be described as the love of my life!  What began as a handful of yoga practitioners, spiritual seekers and nature lovers gathering seasonally to live close to the land and practice together, is growing into a vibrant, supportive community.  And recently, we found a place to call home - Clear Creek Farm & Schoolhhouse in Disputanta, KY.  Visit our Play Ashram website to learn more and find out about our 2023 schedule.

Yoga Classes

I began my yoga journey in 2001, when I stumbled in to my first yoga asana class.  Since that time, yoga has remained one of my primary sources of medicine - keeping me in balance; physically, energetically, emotionally and mentally.  In 2015, I earned my Yoga Teacher Certification and have been sharing the practices of yoga ever since.  I teach privately and offer in-person and online group classes - and I specialize in working with elders and those with limited mobility.  Read more and find my schedule of classes by clicking the link below.

Ancestral Wisdom & Skills

Since 2017 I've been on a mission to remember what's been forgotten; to remember the old ways and in so doing connect with my ancestors and my home, the Earth.  From wild food foraging and medicinal plants to friction fire making to earth based spiritual practices and shamanic life, I am slowly coming back into balance and alignment with my own humanity.  I love to share these skills as the wisdom is in the act itself.

Sound Play

I am a self taught musician and have been writing and performing music for over 20 years.  In 2019 I was gifted a magical, elk-skin medicine drum and since that time my relationship with sound and music has deepened and expanded.  The songs that have come through this drum and me since that time are sacred and powerful.  They are meant to be shared - and so I offer them here.

Guide Services

How can I serve you, my friend?  I offer private yoga and meditation/relaxation classes, customized work-and-play-shops for individuals and small groups, as well as ceremonial services.  I am a student and practitioner of the ancient arts of shamanic journeywork and, more recently, exploring the role of ancient and modern death doula.  I welcome a conversation with you around any of these or other topics you might like to explore together.

The Medicine Play Blog

I have been journaling and writing since I was a child; prose, poetry, short stories, and many many lists!  I even acquired a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Kentucky in English Literature and Creative Writing. This blog is a challenge to myself to create more consistency around my writing practices and to share some of my thoughts, stories and poetry with you.  I hope you enjoy reading it!

Clear Creek Farm & Schoolhouse

In November of 2022, the Clear Creek Valley in Disputanta, KY became my home.  How do I describe who, what, how and why this place is?  I can only offer my picture of it:  Imagine a living, breathing work of art.  One that has been overpainted many times, and yet carries with it's ever changing landscape of branches and creeks, forests, families, animals and trees - the original inspiration, the source of life longing to be lived beautifully.  There are humans here dedicated to being good stewards of the land - offering balance and care with joy and gratitude for the abundance of pure water, rich soil, wildlife, sunshine and beauty.  It is a community with the shared intention of learning and practicing how to live with and support the land and each other in sustainable, life affirming ways.  This valley is home to farmers, craftspeople, artists, healers, dreamers, poets, homesteaders...    season after season, re-emerging, transforming, refining, smoothing rough edges , correcting distortions and striking a more harmonious chord together.
